Sun Microsystems was founded in 1982. The company maintains a workforce of over 30,000 employees worldwide, and provides software and networking solutions to individual developers and large corporations. The company possesses one of the most extensive portfolios of software and service partners in the world. Sun Microsystems also produces microelectronics that provide power for consumer goods, servers, and software developer tools. The Solaris operating system and Java computer program are among several core brands that Sun Microsystems manufactures.
